In the afternoon of May 20th, Party Secretary of CPC Shandong Committee Jiang Yikang met with Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique.
Jiang Yikang welcomed the delegation and briefed the basic facts of the economic and social development in Shandong. He said that: under the guidance of China-Africa Cooperation Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, the Shandong Provincial Government attaches great importance to the cooperation with local governments and enterprises of Mozambique, more and more Shandong enterprises chose Mozambique as their investment destination, hence, the two sides enjoyed win-win cooperation and common development. The relationship between China and Mozambique has been upgraded to comprehensive strategic partnership, which offers unprecedented historical opportunities for Shandong and Mozambique to enhance cooperation and exchanges. We will push forward the friendly cooperation with local governments of Mozambique according to the consensus reached between the leaders of the two sides, and within the framework of China-Africa "10 Major Cooperation Plans" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative". The two sides will carry out practical cooperation in maritime economy, agriculture and aquaculture, education and training, energy and mineral resources, infrastructure, and the building of industrial zones, at the same time, the provincial government will encourage more companies to establish their businesses to Mozambique, and contribute to the better future shared by the two countries on the local level.
Nyusi briefed the status quo of the domestic economic and political development of Mozambique. He mentioned that he had visited some enterprises and schools during his stay in Shandong, the vigorous and energetic economy and the visionary and creative people of Shandong have left him deep impression. With abundance energy and mineral resource, Mozambique stands ready to embrace more cooperation with Shandong, and the Mozambique government would further enhance the friendly exchanges with relevant parties of Shandong. The door of Mozambique is wide open for investment in natural gas exploitation, coal mining, and infrastructure programs, meanwhile, agriculture, tourism, and vocational education, etc., are also on our agenda to deepen practical cooperation and realize development which benefits each other.
Su Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique, Yu Xiaoming, Secretary General of CPC Shandong Committee and Vice Governor Xia Geng attended the meeting.
