Wen Fujiang Meets with Canadian Parliament Delegation

In the afternoon of July 30, Mr. Wen Fujiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress, met with Mr. Rob Oliphant and his delegation. 

Mr. Wen welcomed the guests and introduced to them Shandong’s economic and social development and the basic information of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress. He said, “Shandong is a large province in terms of economy, population and culture. The province enjoys increasingly frequent exchanges with Canada and deeper friendly communication with Quebec and other regions. We hope that, based on your visit, we could further enhance cooperation between our people’s congress and your parliament, and continue to promote economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Canada and Shandong.” 

Canada and Shandong enjoy huge cooperation potential. As home to many advanced technologies in education and communication, Canada is ready to cooperate with Shandong and enhance all-round cultural and people-to-people cooperation between the two sides, said Mr. Oliphant. 

Mr. Lu Dezhi, Chairman of the Ethnic Affairs, Overseas Chinese Affairs and Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Wang Chengbo, Deputy Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress and Mr. Sun Yebao, Deputy Director-General of Shandong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office also joined the meeting.
