In the afternoon of September 21, Mr. Liu Jiayi, Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Chairman of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress met with members of U.S.-China Working Group of U.S. Congress in Jinan.
Liu Jiayi expressed welcome to the guests. Shandong, as an important cradle of Chinese civilization and birthplace of Confucianism, has a large population, abundant resources and solid industrial foundation. The Province is promoting supply-side structural reform and the shift of economic engines, said Liu Jiayi. He hoped that the congressmen could pay more attention to Shandong and play a bigger role in promoting trade, cultural and technologic cooperation between the two sides. He also said that Shandong People’s Congress would love to establish exchange mechanism with state congress of the US to enhance communication.
Congressman Rick Larson said that Shandong people left him deep impression with their friendship and hospitality. He would like to promote more engagement with Shandong and welcome more Shandong enterprises to develop in the US. Congressman Darin LaHood said that Shandong had achieved tremendous success in its development. He hoped that the two sides could step up cooperation in agriculture, trade and other areas to boost mutual understanding and friendship.
Bai Jimin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress, Ren Airong, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Qi Tao, Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People’s Congress, Liu Yongju, Deputy Secretary-General and Director-General of the General Office of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, Wang Jinbao, Director-General of Shandong Department of Agriculture, She Chunming, Director-General of Shandong Department of Commerce and Zhang Jigang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group of Shandong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office also attended the meeting.
